How air conditioning works
Air conditioning A device that does not exchange the air but thoroughly conditions it – cooling it and removing humidity.
It works on the principle of exchanging and transferring energy – when we cool a room, we draw heat out of it, and vice versa. The circulation of the “refrigerant” is ensured by a highly efficient compressor, which provides the pressures necessary for the air conditioner’s cooling circuit to function.
In the indoor unit, the refrigerant evaporates (cools).
In the outdoor unit, the refrigerant condenses and releases heat energy into the outdoor environment (heats).
Condensate drainage must be provided from the indoor unit, because the air flowing through the indoor unit’s evaporator contains a certain percentage of moisture.
If the air conditioner has a reverse function, the indoor air-conditioning unit starts heating and the outdoor unit cooling.
Dehumidification
Almost every air conditioner has a dehumidification function, which can significantly help reduce wall dampness in the winter months when drying laundry, or lower air humidity in the kitchen while cooking – thus preventing mould growth.
Modern air conditioning units include an antibacterial filter that uses an electrostatic charge to capture dust particles. Depending on the model range, the top series even remove not only fine dust but also microorganisms and allergens from the air.
