The heating season is just around the corner, and with it many households are tackling the question of efficient heating. They are looking for an economical yet effective way to keep their home warm through all the winter months. Modern heating with electric and gas boilers is often combined with traditional heating using wood or briquettes. We offer you an alternative – an efficient way of heating your spaces using a heat pump.

What types of heat pumps are there?
Air-to-air heat pump
The pump works by heating the surrounding air inside the unit. Its installation is relatively simple. Many households also appreciate the cooling option, especially during the summer season. The heat pump offers dehumidification and air purification functions. If needed, you can also connect it to underfloor heating. One of its undeniable advantages is its relatively low price. However, if you want to heat several rooms, you have to install an indoor unit in each of them.
But every coin has two sides. With the air-to-air heat pump then you have to allow for its higher noise level. This type of pump also does not heat water.
An air-to-air heat pump is not suitable for buildings with many small rooms. It often finds its use in cottages or apartments.
Air-to-water heat pump
Air-to-water heat pump works by transferring heat energy from the air to the water in the heating circuit. Installation is hassle-free, requiring no boreholes or ground collectors. It also features low operating costs, easy maintenance and a cooling function.
At very low temperatures, the heat pump must be supplemented with another heat source, such as a boiler or a fireplace. Compared with other heat pumps, it is less efficient.
It is an excellent choice mainly for new builds, but it can also be installed when renovating a house.
Ground-to-water heat pump
Installing this heat pump is somewhat more complex, as it requires a deep borehole. The borehole contains a heat exchanger that transfers heat between the ground and the pump.
This heat pump stands out for its stable output, powerful and efficient heating, low electricity consumption and long service life. Households also praise its silent operation and maintenance-free running.
On the other hand, installation requires more substantial work in the form of a deep borehole, which calls for suitable ground conditions and a building permit. It is also the most expensive type of heat pump.
An alternative to a ground-to-water heat pump with a deep borehole is a heat pump with a horizontal ground collector, which enjoys many benefits, although its installation requires a sufficiently large plot of land.
Why is heating with a heat pump so efficient?
You gain independence
Energy prices will change in the coming years. But you you don’t have to be fully dependent, because the pump takes its thermal energy from its surroundings.
You’ll save
The pump offers you the option of efficient heating. In the long run, you can save up to 60 % on energy costs compared with an electric boiler, or 30 % compared with a gas boiler. What’s more, the investment will pay for itself in roughly 3 – 7 years.
Heat pumps are environmentally friendly
Because it draws energy from its surroundings and, unlike other heating fuels, releases no solid particles into the air, it is referred to as environmentally friendly.
As a bonus, you’ll receive the air conditioner
You can also use heat pumps outside the heating season. They make a great alternative to air conditioning, which you’ll appreciate especially during summer heatwaves. If you have a pool at home, you can use the pump to heat the water in it.
Question how to heat efficiently can be solved with heat pumps. That is one reason many households install them. They are suitable for heating even at low temperatures (down to -20 °C) and their lifespan can reach 20 years. So if you are interested in an economical, environmentally friendly and efficient solution that will help you when heating a family home, we’ll be happy to help.
